What does one find in a modern-day intellect? He needs to excel in various aspects of his interests, including academics, music, sports, and art. Zhenyu Sheng, or Alex, is the exact person you would call an exemplary form. He is especially curious about the transformative conventionality of the economic world and the diverse interactivity of the musical world. He has regularly made multiple philanthropic concerts to support the disadvantaged youth and impoverished children of the world. Helping others is an essential purpose of his life.
My Story
​His favourite growing-up story is how Winston Churchill’s United Kingdom never gave up during the Second World War to obtain victory, especially his speech encouraging people to keep fighting. He said, ‘We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air’. This shows that once one builds an everlasting and persevering momentum, this momentum will make him win against all suffering and pain, and it tells us never to surrender against all odds.
For Alex, he has long sought well-rounded personal growth through the various initiatives he has chosen to engage with. 11 years ago, he was s Pre-fencer in China physical system, he stopped play sabre in shanghai sport institute as knee injury, then, he joined Prep boy school in UK, Academically, he thoroughly appreciates the quest for mathematical excellence, obtaining gold for national maths challenge across three consecutive years at Harrow school from 2021. He enjoys serving the secretary to the music society in school. One of his key initiatives is working with Harrow School and International China Concern (ICC) to raise funds to address educational inequality in both the UK and China through music. In addition, he has explored the application of behavioural economics in the second-hand school uniform market in the UK for ICEMBDA 2025, where he collected 300 samples through STATA analysis. He will soon start research papers on Carbon Taxation and Renewable Energy in the Environmental Economy and economic Theory on the Educational Outcomes of Left-Behind Children in China; meanwhile, He also does music research on the topic "The Lion King's Soundtrack: Thematic Development and Emotional Impact in Film Song."
Looking ahead, Alex aims to obtain greater knowledge so that he can be able to help those in need, especially those who are young and impoverished. He would like to spread the message of peace and unity to more people in the world, and to explore his own potential across different subjects. Furthermore, he aims to meet others in his generation who are open-minded to know-how transfer, and to share his music to a wider audience, and familiarize them with a new understanding of music.
